About Me

My journey as a Mental Health Professional

Hello! I’m Lauraine

Licensed Therapist

Lauraine grew up in Calgary and completed a BEd degree at University of Calgary in 1985. She spent the next 20+ years in education fulfilling a variety of roles; high school teacher, substitute teacher, career counsellor, and, for the last 20 years, guidance counsellor. It was the early days in the classroom, supporting students who were struggling with various issues both inside and outside the classroom that fueled Lauraine’s passion for psychology, resulting in the completion of a Master’s Degree in Counselling Psychology.

Approach and Values

Lauraine brings much life experience to her work. She is mom to three amazing adults, ages 32, 29 and 23. She has experienced first hand the major transitions of parenthood, separation, divorce, career changes, the sandwich generation, grief, loss, and has been closely involved with those managing terminal illness and long term disability. In fact, it was during the caretaking/terminal illness of her mother that Lauraine became aware of the effectiveness of mind-body therapies to facilitate wellness, healing and peace. This philosophy of mind-body therapy was integral to Lauraine’s personal journey with anxiety and depression.

In her leisure time, Lauraine enjoys being outdoors in fresh air and sunshine; running, cycling, walking, hiking or the occasional round of golf. She loves writing, kayaking
when the opportunity presents itself, and listening to a wide variety of music genres.
