Many mental health problems originate from distorted thought processes. Cognitive therapies seek to identify unhealthy or negative thoughts, emotions and beliefs. The objective is to change behaviors by identifying these distorted thoughts. Mindfulness is the Buddhist tradition of focusing the mind on the present, becoming aware of your thoughts and behaviors and assessing them in a non-judgmental manner. 

 The combination of Mindfulness practice(s) and modern cognitive therapies creates a highly holistic approach to mental health that supports individuals to become increasingly aware of their thoughts or mental state and their physiological functioning and the relationship between the two.
